The Staff Engineer will contribute to the R&D, design, measurement, installation, and commissioning of NSLS-II permanent magnet systems. Responsibilities will include designing and testing the electrical systems and controls interface for the insertion device magnetic measurement facility. Candidate will report to the NSLS-II Insertion Devices Group Leader.

NSLS-II is a proposed new state-of-the-art medium energy storage ring designed to deliver world leading brightness and flux with top-off operation for constant output. The facility will be able to produce x-rays up to 10,000 times brighter than those produced at the existing NSLS today. Design and engineering of the new light source began in 2007 and construction and operations are expected to begin in 2009 and 2015, respectively.

Qualifications Required:
·BS degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering
·Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible related work experience in DAQ, UNIX, C/C++ programming and other scripting languages
Qualifications Preferred:
·Advanced degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering
·Knowledge and experience in magnetic field measurement using: coils and Hall probes, EPICs, and motor controls
