The experimental condensed matter research group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy is looking to hire one postdoctoral or senior postdoctoral researcher to take part in a new US Department of Energy supported program to build collaboration between LSU and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Postdoctoral Researcher Responsibilities: 70% effort - The primary responsibilities will be to synthesis of single crystal and polycrystalline materials under pressure, characterize these samples with laboratory based techniques and other measurements using national user facilities. 30% effort - Responsibilities will include participating in the training of graduate students, data analysis, presenting of results at conferences and meetings, and publication are expected activities.
Senior Postdoctoral Researcher: 75% effort - The primary responsibilities will be to take a lead role in synthesis of single crystal and polycrystalline materials under pressure, characterize these samples with laboratory based techniques and other measurements using national user facilities. 25% effort - Responsibilities will include participating in the training of graduate students, data analysis, presenting of results at conferences and meetings, and publication are expected activities.
Required Qualifications: Either positions - PhD in physics or related. Senior postdoc must have 3 years of related experience. Salary and level will be dependent upon candidate's qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in synthesis, material characterization, and experience with high-pressure synthesis.
Special Requirements: The synthesis will take place at Oak Ridge National Laboratory so candidates must be willing to travel.
