Computer Science: Modeling, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology, Physics: Nuclear
The Bonner Nuclear Lab at Rice University is searching for a Research Associate to work in a joint project with the Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Center. The project consists in the implementation and extension of a fast algorithm for dose calculation to be used for the treatment planning. Our group also collaborates closely with the Radiation Physics Department at University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer in Houston. The position is available immediately for one year. A multi-year extension is possible.
Applicants are expected to have: 1) a recent Ph.D. degree in physics, computer science or a closely related area; 2) experience in Monte Carlo simulations of interactions of radiation with matter; 3) a background in computer programing languages, especially in C, and C++ ; 4) the ability to work as a member of a a team ; 5) the ability to carry out a research project independently.

Additional Salary Information: A salary in the range $48,000-$55,000 is expected. The final figure will be determined according to the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The position may include some traveling to Shanghai, China.
