The Nuclear Reaction Dynamic Group within the Department of Nuclear Physics, Research School of Physics and Engineering is seeking early career researchers to work on research projects funded by the Australian Research Council, led by Professor David Hinde, Professor Mahananda Dasgupta and Dr Cédric Simenel.
The Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Fellow will join our dynamic international team, carrying out research into the dynamics of nuclear reactions. Particularly topics of investigation are nuclear fission, fusion and transfer, and fusion suppression (including by quasifission and nuclear breakup). A common theme is to understand the relationship of these processes to the microscopic nature of energy dissipation in nuclear many-body systems. Experimental research mainly uses the 15 million Volt tandem accelerator and superconducting linac located in the Department, with operations supported by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure program. Efficient detector instrumentation and analysis software has been developed, optimised for fission, fusion and breakup measurements. Researchers with a strong experimental (and/or theoretical) background in the following fields are encouraged to apply.
