The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics with a start date of August 2017. Candidates for this tenure-track position should possess an earned Ph.D. in physics or a related field, with a desired specialization in electromagnetics. Exceptional ABD candidates may be considered with Ph.D. completion anticipated by Fall 2017. The ideal candidate would teach courses in Physics and Engineering, direct student projects in both programs, and conduct research between the programs. Furthermore, the candidate would develop new interdisciplinary/cross-listed courses that could meet the needs of both programs. It is expected that the candidate will have a research agenda that leads to scholarly works and the engagement of undergraduate students. The University is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship/professional activity, and service to the University and community.
Because this position requires a unique blend of classroom teaching in both Physics and Engineering, this advertisement will run concurrently with the Assistant Professor of Engineering. However, only one tenure-track Assistant Professor position exists and only one candidate will be hired between these two advertisements. Prospective candidates should apply to the listing that most closely aligns with their doctoral degree program.
Review of candidates will begin October 15th, 2016 and continue until the position is filled.
