Full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2017. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics, astrophysics or astronomy with research interests in astrophysics or astronomy. Candidates with research interests that utilize spectroscopic and/or computational approaches to astronomy or astrophysics are strongly encouraged to apply. Post-doctoral experience preferred. The person selected will pursue excellence in teaching with the support of the university, and participate in campus, departmental and professional service. Primary teaching responsibilities include calculus-based physics lecture and lab and introductory astronomy lecture and lab. The person will also develop a productive research program that involves undergraduates. Our department (http://web.usca.edu/chemistry/) places a high value on undergraduate research and has a history of external funding. Facilities include a rooftop observatory housing a 16” reflecting telescope, CCD camera, solar telescope, a dual-dipole radio telescope and supercomputer access. Start-up funds are provided.
