The Department of Physics at Texas State University seeks applicants for a tenure track position in experimental condensed matter physics at the assistant or associate professor rank effective Fall 2017. A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, postdoctoral or equivalent experience, a demonstrated record of research, such as peer-reviewed publications and patents, and strong commitment to excellence in teaching in both undergraduate and graduate courses are required qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to secure external funding and establish a vibrant research program advising undergraduate and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) students, be committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in physics and in support of the Materials Science, Engineering, and Commercialization (MSEC) program, and engage in service with departmental, university, and/or professional committees. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests that complement those of the existing faculty, contribute to the mission of the recently established MSEC program, demonstrate a record of funded research, and have industrial and/or technology transfer experience.
