As part of a significant expansion initiative, the School of Engineering at Brown University invites applications for tenure-track positions in our Fluids and Thermal Sciences Group. We expect to hire up to two faculty members with experimental, theoretical or computational research interests, selected from following broad areas of fluid mechanics and soft matter: environmental fluid mechanics, bio-inspired or bio-mimetic systems (including bio-inspired robotics), soft matter systems, energy-related fluid mechanics, and micron-scale fluid mechanics. Interdisciplinary areas of research, with connections to broader fields of Engineering, Physics, Biology and Environmental Sciences are of particular interest.
The search committee will consider candidates for appointment as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Applicants should hold a PhD in Engineering or a related discipline, and must demonstrate the ability to initiate and sustain an externally-funded program of research, to communicate their research results at the highest levels, and to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
