EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR of PHYSICS/EXPERIMENTAL ENGINEERING SCIENCE – The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a tenure-track position in physics in the area of experimental engineering science starting Fall 2017. Responsibilities include: teaching a full range of classes (from introductory to graduate level) in physics, especially courses in engineering mechanics, electronics, and fluids; leading engineering physics-related activities; performing departmental service; and conducting scholarly activity. Minimum degree: Doctorate. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in engineering physics, or a Ph.D. in physics and a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an ABET-accredited program, which complements ongoing research within the department. Candidates must have a plan for enhancing engineering physics courses, a strong commitment to undergraduate education and research, and a strategy for seeking external funding and research support. The Department currently has research facilities in surface mechanics, optics, and plasma physics. Teaching commitment is 12 credit hours per semester; opportunities exist for research release time.
