The Department of Physics, Atmospheric Science and Geoscience at Jackson State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in condensed matter physics at the Assistant Professor level starting Spring or Fall 2017 Semester. We seek an experimentalist who complements the ongoing research in the department in the areas of Nanomaterials and Optical Physics, but exceptional candidates with expertise in theoretical/computational physics in these areas would be considered as well. Candidates should have a Ph.D in physics or related field, a strong record of independent research, a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring in an undergraduate institution, and be willing to work in interdisciplinary environment.
