The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of California, Riverside (http://www.physics.ucr.edu/) invites highly qualified individuals to apply for a tenure-track faculty position in Theoretical Studies in Astrophysics and Cosmology. The appointment will be made at the assistant professor level and will be available as early as July 1, 2017.
The main selection criteria will be demonstrated excellence in research and future promise. The successful candidate is expected to establish an outstanding and well-funded research program involving graduate students and postdoctoral scientists, and to contribute to departmental teaching at all levels. She or he will be expected to strengthen the current research effort in theoretical cosmology/astrophysics and to complement the research activities of the observational astronomy and astroparticle groups in the department. The Physics and Astronomy department at UCR is undergoing a rapid expansion and is currently active in theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics; experimental relativistic heavy-ion physics; theoretical and experimental high-energy physics; theoretical astroparticle physics; and observational and theoretical astronomy and cosmology, including a growing effort in big-data science, with an additional astronomy faculty hire this year in astrophysics data science. UCR is a world-class research university with an exceptionally diverse undergraduate student body. Candidates for this position are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics, or a related field. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualification.
