Computer Science: Information Technology, Physics: Physics
EDUCATION DESIRED: Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related physical science discipline.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Design and implementation of software infrastructure for the control and automation of experiments on semiconductor devices and circuits. Interfacing laboratory computers to instrumentation for real-time control, data acquisition, signal processing, and database maintenance. Programming, testing, and debugging of high-speed analog/digital instruments including signal generators, FPGAs, DACs, oscilloscopes.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Development of software for control of test equipment including driver level code and graphical user interfaces. Programming and testing of analog and digital instrumentation. Collaboration with experimental groups in physics and/or electronics.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: In depth understanding of software architecture and code development. One or more instrument programming interfaces such as PXI, LXI, GPIB, RS-232, or VISA. Understanding of analog and digital electrical measurement techniques. C++, IGOR Pro, Verilog, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment with other team members, excellent problem solving skills, ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer monitor.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship. Possession of an active security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one is required.
