The Department of Physics invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Physics and Astronomy starting Fall 2017. Requirements are a Ph.D. in Astronomy or Physics and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. The candidate will be expected to teach courses in both astronomy and physics (lower and upper division). This position will have a 12-hour load which will consist of 3-4 courses/semester. We have an educational observatory and we are in the process of building an astronomy program from the existing minor. The Physics Department offers B.S. degrees in Physics (with six concentrations: Biomedical, Optoelectronics and Photonics, Engineering, Computational/\4athematical, Interdisciplinary, and Entrepreneurial). We have 60+ undergraduate physics majors. We were awarded the APS 2015 Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Physics. We have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and involvement of students in research. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the success of our program.
