The Department of Physics at the University of West Georgia seeks to fill two positions: (1) a non-tenure track Limited Term Instructor and (2) a non-tenure track renewable Lab Coordinator position.
(1)The successful candidate for the Lab Coordinator position will teach and grade labs, and will be responsible for ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, taking inventory, repairing equipment, giving lab lectures, ensuring student safety, and helping with recitation sections. Since the university has a writing across the curriculum requirement, and the successful candidate will be involved in assessing writing, strong writing skills will be required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Physics or a related field is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
(2) The Limited Term Instructor must be able to enthusiastically teach large sections of Astronomy, as well as Introductory Physics courses and labs. The position will last for one year, but may be extended, depending on funding. A Master’s Degree in Physics or Astronomy is required; a Ph. D. is preferred.
Both positions will begin August 1, 2017, and offer competitive salary and benefits. The successful candidates must have reliable transportation, since they will work at both the Carrollton and Newnan campuses. Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.
