The Physics Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2020. Applicants with experimental condensed matter or interdisciplinary biological / medical physics research interests are highly preferred, but candidates from other areas of physics are welcome to apply. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses each semester.
Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Physics or closely allied field. Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and the potential for developing an active research program in their area of specialization that involves undergraduates. Additionally, a commitment to pedagogical innovation and demonstrated excellence in using technology in the classroom is required. Previous teaching and postdoctoral experience are preferred. The department consists of six full-time faculty representing a range of specialties and is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility in the Bannow Science Center. Our department offers B.S. degrees in Physics. There is a vibrant culture of undergraduate student-faculty research, a highly successful pre-health professions program, and growing institutional emphasis on the health sciences and STEM.
