We seek a postdoctoral researcher for a 3-year position at Colgate University to work in the area of superconducting neuromorphic computing. The position is sponsored by Microsoft who is collaborating with Colgate on investigating the application of neuromorphic computing to quantum computing. We are interested in an experienced experimental researcher to design, simulate and test superconducting circuits to understand their capabilities as neuromorphic components. Available facilities at Colgate include two low-temperature testing systems, a helium liquefier and recovery system, cryogenic sample mounting capability, high-fidelity electronic readout of superconducting circuits, and superconducting circuit design and simulation software. Additionally, by virtue of the Microsoft sponsorship, the postdoctoral researcher will enjoy exposure to relevant experts and resources within the global Microsoft Quantum program.
The primary duties of this position involve designing and performing experiments and, for clarity, the employer for the position is Colgate. For those interested in eventually moving on to an academic position, the option exists to supervise undergraduate students in research and to teach in the Physics and Astronomy curriculum at Colgate. This position could serve as stepping-stone to a teacher-scholar position at a liberal-arts University.
