The Department of Physics at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be an active participant in the department, with responsibilities that include: teaching undergraduate courses and maintaining and mentoring students in a vibrant and productive research program that has the potential to receive external funding and to produce peer-reviewed publications. The successful candidate will also contribute to the physics program and the university through participation in departmental and in interdisciplinary committees as well as through ongoing engagement in scholarly, creative, and professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics (or related field) is required with research specializing in Theoretical or Experimental Biophysics, Environmental Biophysics, or Biophotonics; highly qualified applications in related fields may be considered. Preferred applicants will have at least one year of post-doc or related teaching/work experience (preferred but not required).
Terms of Appointment Continuing academic year (nine month) appointment beginning Fall 2020; tenure eligible.
