The Graphene Flagship unites 150 of the primary European research groups and companies in a combined effort to push research in 2D materials towards practical applications - from the lab to the fab. As large-area graphene is now becoming available, it is essential to develop characterisation methods that are fast, non-destructive and accurate - and here conventional lithography falls short. Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) based electrical mapping is a powerful emerging method for non-contact mapping of graphene’s electrical properties, developed at DTU over the past 8 years.
DTU wish to employ a post-doctoral researcher for 36 months to carry out research in electrical properties of graphene using THz-TDS, including development of THz-TDS based methods and instrumentation for fast, accurate and reproducible mapping of the electronic properties of large-scale graphene (in particular continuous characterisation of R2R-based CVD graphene), and methods for analyzing of high quality encapsulated graphene using THz-TDS.
Candidates should have a PhD degree in physics or equivalent.
Experience with terahertz time-domain spectroscopy or THz physics
You are an experimentalist, and have hands-on experience with design, construction of equipment or experimental setups is an advantage
Experience with graphene synthesis, transfer and integration is relevant
Solid theoretical background and knowledge of concepts and methods in the field/literature, especially within electronics, optics and applications of 2D materials and advanced thin films.
Other relevant characterisation techniques for graphene such as Raman spectroscopy, SEM, TEM and AFM and electrical measurements.
