The Department of Physics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in the Fall of 2020. We seek candidates within the broad area of Quantum Information Science, both theoretical and/or experimental. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics, or a closely related field, a strong scholarship record and a strong potential for excellence in teaching. The successful applicant is expected to develop a robust, externally funded research program while contributing to the educational and service missions of the Physics Department and WPI that includes project-based learning, a focus on undergraduate research, and active K-12 outreach. The candidate’s research should complement current research strengths and facilities at WPI and have the potential for crosscutting interdisciplinary work. Research interests of current faculty include quantum information science, quantum sensing, photonics, optical materials, ultra fast optical and THz spectroscopy, nano-science, and soft matter and bio-physics.
