Visiting Assistant Professor - Physics
Le Moyne College
Le Moyne College, a college in the Jesuit tradition, with a strong commitment in undergraduate teaching, in Syracuse, New York, invites applications for a one-year appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics starting in August 2020. The position may be renewed after the initial one-year appointment, pending available funding and a review of the department's needs. Teaching expectations include introductory physics lecture and laboratory as well as advanced physics courses, and the teaching load is four courses per semester. All students majoring in physics are required to undertake a capstone project during their senior year, and a successful candidate is expected to provide guidance and mentoring for some of these projects. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or by the time of appointment. Candidates of all specializations will be considered, but laboratory experience is desired, as is an interest in mentoring students. Prior teaching experience of undergraduate-level physics is highly desirable. Successful candidates will have a commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment and be familiar with pedagogical practices informed by physics education research, including active learning approaches.
