American Credit Acceptance seeks a highly skilled Data Scientist to join the Data Science and Learning Team within the Risk Department. The Data Scientist will leverage their advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques, in conjunction with their entrepreneurial mindset, to uncover insights, build solutions, and deliver recommendations to the business. The role includes framing problems, developing hypotheses, formulating solutions, scoping feasibility, and leading implementation and monitoring.
Identify, quantify, and disseminate insights to key stakeholders throughout the organization
Analyze business problems, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations for optimal/efficient solutions
Consistently deliver accurate results in a timely manner
Develop, validate, implement, and monitor statistical/machine learning models in a production environment
Consistently consider, and follow, ACA’s Guiding Principles
Masters or PhD in a STEM-related field (Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, etc)
Exceptional academic performance
Experience using statistical programming languages (R, Python, C++)
Experience building (using SQL-like language) and mining large datasets for insights
Understanding of appropriate techniques for various explanatory and predictive modeling/machine learning tasks (including: GLM, GBM, Random Forests, LASSO, Clustering)
Experience validating and monitoring models using statistical techniques and KPIs
Exceptional written and verbal communication, specifically, the ability to convey results to both technical, and non-technical, audiences effectively
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and prioritize them based on impact
The ability to quickly assess problems and find workable solutions within a business framework (understanding that added complexity does not always lead to added performance)
