Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Physics
University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, Department of Physics
The Department of Physics at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, announces an entry-level tenure-track position starting on August 2021. The Department, with 18 full-time faculty members, offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics and has externally funded research programs in several fields. A Ph.D. program is currently under development. We request applications of candidates in: Experimental/Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics; Experimental/Computational High Energy Physics; Astrophysics/Astronomy/Planetary Sciences; Medical Physics; Physics Education; Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology. The successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Physics at the time of hiring, be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and are expected to actively pursue external funding for support of his or her research activities. Applicants should submit a resume and a letter summarizing research and teaching goals, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to: Prof. Héctor Méndez-Mella, Personnel Committee Chairman, Department of Physics, University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, Call Box 9000, Mayagüez, PR 00681-9000.
