The position is affiliated with Vanderbilt University’s newly formed “Initiative for Gravity, Waves, and Fluids” – a collaborative, interdisciplinary venture. Appointment can be within the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Physics and Astronomy, or joint, depending on a candidate’s expertise. The Initiative for Gravity, Waves, and Fluids is a research-focused enterprise that cuts across traditional discipline boundaries by providing mathematicians, physicists, and astrophysicists with the resources and space to connect and collaborate on projects of outstanding scientific merit. A current list of members of the Initiative can be found at https://as.vanderbilt.edu/physics/gwaf/. It is anticipated that the Initiative will grow into a vibrant program, with addition of new members, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and substantial resources to support Initiative activities.
