Postdoctoral scholar in condensed matter physics
Penn State University
The Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill one postdoctoral scholar position in Condensed Matter Physics. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Zhiqiang Mao and participate in the quantum material research program which aims to discover and understand novel exotic properties of topological materials such as magnetic topological insulators and ferromagnetic Weyl semimetals. This project involves bulk single crystal growth and characterization, magnetic and transport measurements, 2D crystal preparation through mechanical exfoliation and nano-scale transport measurements. The ideal candidate for this position is expected to have experience with single crystal growth and characterization or research in two-dimensional materials. Requirements include a Ph.D. in physics or a related field. Applications must be submitted electronically and include a cover letter, CV and statement of research interests. In addition to the online application, applicants should arrange for three reference letters to be submitted to physicsapply@psu.edu indicating the appropriate job number in the subject line. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is found.
