Assistant Professor of Physics
University of Houston Clear Lake
The University of Houston – Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor of Physics beginning Fall 2021. Candidates must have a PhD in Physics or closely related field. Preference will be given to applicants with an experimental background in Materials Science, Condensed Matter Physics or related area. The successful candidate will assist in innovative growth of the Physics BS and MS programs at UHCL, a non-traditional university located next to NASA Johnson Space Flight Center. The Physics program also has a Collaborative PhD degree through the University of Houston, the Carnegie R-1 Flagship institution in the UH-System. Responsibilities include teaching Physics/Astronomy core courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, establishing an active experimental research program involving graduate and undergraduate students, and service at the university and professional levels. Experience with active learning and PER teaching techniques is a plus. Research collaboration with NASA, other nearby research institutes/companies, or faculty in other disciplines (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Safety and Health) is encouraged.
