Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics
Austin College
The Department of Physics invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics beginning August 2021. This is a one-year position, potentially renewable subject to satisfactory performance and budgetary considerations. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to innovative teaching in a liberal arts environment. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory physics for health sciences, science courses for non-science majors, and upper-level courses for physics majors. The teaching load is normally two lectures and two labs per regular semester, plus a January Term each year. Supervision of undergraduate research projects is also a possibility, depending on interest and experience. A Ph.D. in physics or closely related field is required, and candidates planning to obtain the Ph.D. before August 2021 will be considered. Candidates should include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts, a one-page statement of teaching philosophy, a one-page description of research interests, a one-page Diversity and Inclusion Statement indicating how they would address diversity in their teaching, scholarship, and/or service, and three letters of recommendation.
