- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE X-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- BS degree in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience in experimental polymer formulation chemistry and characterization.
- Experience in a general, organic, and/or materials chemistry laboratory setting and knowledge of laboratory fundamentals and best practices.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate technical information effectively with technicians, peers, and managers.
- Experience operating PC and/or Macintosh computers to collect, analyze, and document scientific results.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work both independently and in a collaborative research environment and interact with a diverse set of scientists, engineers, technicians and other technical and administrative staff.
Additional qualifications at the SES.3 level
- Ability as a creative experimentalist, and a diverse range of experience in experimental design, techniques and execution related to polymer science.
- Significant experience with and fundamental knowledge of organic synthesis and/or characterization of polymers.
