About the role
We have an opening for a dedicated and enthusiastic scientist working in the area of condensed matter physics research. The position is based on beamline I06, which offers polarised light microscopy using x-rays and optical light. Experience with use of scientific instrumentation is and operating lasers and optimizing optics from wavelengths 250 nm to 800 nm would be an advantage.
Responsibilities’ will include:
- Provide operational support for research conducted using electron microscopes using x-rays and optical light.
- Act as a single point of contact for a proportion of user experiments providing specialist technical/scientific advice.
- Collaborate on equipment upgrades and development projects, including taking specific responsibility for certain components of the equipment.
- Develop own research in an area relevant to the facilities and disseminate the results.
About You
You will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, an ability to collaborate in large and complex cross-disciplinary groups and have a passion for enabling the best science.
An appropriate science or engineering degree, or equivalent qualification or an appropriate PhD and proven relevant experience is required for this position.
For the Senior position you will have experience/knowledge in conducting research at large scale facilities facility along with an established research programme in condensed matter physics.
