Creating a fusion energy generator requires the simulation of neutrons and photons. We use the Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) code to model, test, analyze, and optimize designs. And, you will use MCNP (and related codes) to model our fusion generator, diagnostic equipment, dose, and interactions with the environment; write internal reports to document your findings; and grow your MCNP techniques.

About You:

Experience

Writing input files, running MCNP6, and using scripts to process data.

Willingness to continue education and learn more on the job.

Bachelors or postgraduate degree in nuclear engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field, or equivalent.

Experience with MCNP and fundamentals of nuclear physics.

Desired Experience (not required)

Using SpaceClaim to model simple geometries.

Activation analysis using ORIGEN/SCALE or similar codes.

Modeling detectors; modeling organic scintillation detectors in MCNPX-PoliMi.

Understanding of dose.

Understanding of shielding and common rules/materials for neutrons and photons.
