  • This position requires either no security clearance, or a Department of Energy (DOE) L-level or Q-level clearance depending on the particular assignment. For L and Q positions, the ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE L- or Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Inorganic or Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge and practical experience with solution-based synthesis of nanoparticles and characterization of nanoparticles and nanoparticle suspensions.
  • Experience identifying and recommending solutions to fundamental problems using initiative and creativity.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication as reflected by effective presentations at seminars, meetings and/or teaching lectures.
  • The willingness and ability to work independently, and to collaborate on multidisciplinary teams as required to reach research goals.

Additional qualifications at the SES.2 level

  • Conduct moderately complex to complex research in nanomaterial characterization.
  • Ability as a creative experimentalist, and a diverse range of experience in experimental design, techniques and execution.
  • Broad experience in synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Master's degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Inorganic or Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A proven interest in pushing nanomaterials to the forefront of advanced display and electronic technologies.
  • Willingness and ability to provide data for proposals to gain funding for either feasibility or long-term studies.
  • Willingness to engage and contribute to our inclusive lab culture.
