Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, Alabama) Department of Chemistry, located in the Department of Chemistry and Geosciences, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of physics to begin in August 2023. The applicant should demonstrate a firm commitment to undergraduate education and student mentoring. The candidate will be required to teach fundamental and upper-level physics courses. Applicants should exhibit engaging and inclusive teaching and research practices. We currently offer a minor in physics and many service courses for other disciplines; we require someone willing to help us grow our program and potentially re-establish a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
A Ph.D. in Physics is required at the time of the start date. We are excited to consider applications from diverse backgrounds and foci.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching required Physics courses and labs
Teaching required physics courses for science majors, including pre-health
Teaching upper division electives for Physics students with labs
Actively participating in the Department, the University, and the community through active public engagement, future committee work, and collegial involvement
Ability to be collegial with other faculty and student across campus
Mentoring undergraduate students
Research supervision of undergraduate students
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in Physics.

Good oral and written communication skills
