Job Description
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Looking to make a difference developing disruptive technologies? BAE Systems FAST Labs™ leads the way with opportunities for tackling the Defense and Intelligence Communities’ hardest problems with innovative software and hardware solutions. FAST Labs™, the research arm of BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems, is looking for a Senior Signal Processing Research Scientist to join their Multimodal Architectures and Processing (MAP) research group. The MAP research group works on programs and problems that involve active and passive sensor processing including RF/EOIR sensors. Technology areas include algorithm development / data analysis for Synthetic Aperture Radar, Automatic Target Recognition, Polarimetric Radar, GMTI/SMTI/AMTI. These technologies are developed to apply to the domains of communications, radar, electronic warfare, signals intelligence, spectrum organization and optimization, to name a few.
An appropriate candidate must have expertise in high-performance signal processing implementations by developing software coupled to FPGA acceleration. Ideal candidates would also be capable of developing firmware components for acceleration or real-time operation. Experience with RF approaches for direction finding or beamforming is desirable. EOIR sensor processing experience is also desirable. Candidates must be proficient in low-level software development and integration in an embedded systems environment. Candidate must also have a strong background in developing FPGA-based signal processing and digital communication system solutions. MATLAB/Python proficiency is required. Experience with system board bring-up/troubleshoot is desired.
Candidates should have hands-on experience with typical software/firmware and GPU software development processes including: 1) requirements capture, analysis and documentation, 2) code review and design presentation, and 3) test and validation. Candidates should be familiar with modern source-control and project tracking tools. The candidate must be able to communicate with diverse sets of engineers and scientists to analyze and prototype algorithms and processing architectures and transition them to deployable, well-tested implementations. Occasional travel might be required to oversee system testing.
This position can be based out of our Merrimack, NH facilities or Austin, TX facilities, though it will require collaboration with staff across our business areas and facilities with some travel required.
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.
