The neutron physics group at Tulane University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to participate in two cold neutron beam experiments: BL3, a next generation beam neutron lifetime experiment, now under construction; and parity-violating neutron spin rotation in liquid helium. Both experiments will run at the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The position is based at Tulane, but will be located primarily at the experimental integration site at Indiana University (Bloomington) and will involve travel to the NCNR. A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics or a related field and previous experience in detector and target development, data acquisition, and data analysis are required. This is an opportunity to develop expertise in cold neutron beam experiments including construction, integration, commissioning, operations, and data analysis. The successful candidate will be encouraged to assume a leadership roles in these areas. The position will include a competitive salary and Tulane benefits. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV (listing publications and invited talks), and contact information for two references to https://apply.interfolio.com/123819. Further information about the department can be found at sse.tulane.edu/pep. Inquiries can be directed to Professor Fred Wietfeldt at few@tulane.edu. Application review will begin on May 1, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. Tulane is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/ADA Employer.
