Internal Number: 415066
The Materials Science Division (MSD) of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a research scientist position in experimental condensed matter physics. Although exceptional candidates in all areas of experimental condensed matter physics will be considered, particular emphasis will be placed on expertise in quantum materials and their functionalities. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in a dynamic and collaborative environment of physicists, chemists, and materials scientists. She or he will leverage the resources and expertise at Argonne to build and maintain a research group at the forefront of condensed matter science and to successfully pursue funding from appropriate sponsors to support their research activities. We will consider candidates at all levels of experience; however, preference will be given to an internationally recognized mid-career scientist whose intellectual leadership is evidenced by an outstanding publication record, invited talks at major topical conferences, awards, and other recognition.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Experience at a level typically achieved with a Ph.D. and at least five to ten years of research in academia, industry, or a national laboratory setting. Deep expertise and knowledge of experimental condensed matter physics. A background in transport, spectroscopic, optical, or synchrotron x-ray techniques is desirable but not required.
Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
RD LEVEL 3: Bachelor's & 8+ yrs OR Master's & 5+ yrs OR Doctorate & 4+ yrs
Interested candidates should provide a curriculum vitae with a list of publications and a statement of research interests to Wai-Kwong Kwok firstname.lastname@example.org, and arrange to have three professional reference letters sent to Beverly Marzec email@example.com.
The position will remain opened until filled; starting date is flexible, with a target of Fall 2023.
