The Department of Physics and Astronomy hosts a premier research program within the College of Science at Louisiana State University. We have over fifty research active faculty, fifteen postdoctoral researchers, and about one hundred each of graduate students and undergraduate physics majors. Our research spans a wide range of areas of physics and astronomy, including astronomy and astrophysics, atomic, molecular, and optical physics, condensed matter physics and materials science, gravitational physics, high energy physics, medical and health physics, nuclear physics, quantum physics, and quantum information and technology.
