| Founded in 1897, Piedmont College is a private, comprehensive liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students at campuses in Demorest and Athens, Georgia. Piedmont College located in Demorest and Athens, Georgia, is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Physics to begin on August 1, 2020. This is a full time, 9-month, non-tenure track position with teaching responsibilities on the Demorest campus. Summary Description: The Piedmont College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified individual to serve as full-time Faculty for our Physics Program and provide: - Effective classroom teaching in all levels of Physics – in general physics and labs as well as in an area of interest or expertise;
- Direction for students in undergraduate research;
- Advisement to students in Pre-engineering and Physics;
- Scholarly development appropriate to a small private liberal arts college; and
- Service responsibilities to the department, school, college and community;
Required: - PhD in Physics or a related field
Preferred: - Use of, or familiarity with, active learning strategies and student-centered policies
- Strong desire to do undergraduate research with majors
