Postdoctoral research—Fusion Energy
The DIII-D National Fusion Facility is the principal magnetically confined fusion experiment in the United States. Its research focus is the science and control of the burning plasma state. DIII-D scientists work toward the exciting goal of establishing the physics basis needed to make fusion energy a reality. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher to contribute to our efforts in one of multiple areas of study. The first potential research project focuses on disruption mitigation, specifically, the study of runaway electrons. The researcher is expected to upgrade the Gamma Ray Imaging (GRI) diagnostic and use the new ultrafast capabilities to make phase space resolved measurements of the runaway electron population. Subsequent model validation, r
