Postdoctoral Research—Fusion Disruption Control
Scientists at General Atomics are collaborating with colleagues at KSTAR and EAST to develop disruption free operation via advanced control systems. We currently have an excellent opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher to help lead this effort that is indispensable to the development of practical fusion in a tokamak. In this position, the researcher will plan and execute experiments on KSTAR and EAST that test and develop control systems that can avoid a wide variety of disruption triggers (locked modes, hardware failures, etc.). Though analysis, the researcher will determine the most effective disruption responses and develop new methods for responding to faults. These new systems will then be leveraged to improve the robustness of the ITER Hybrid and Baseline Scenarios on K
