Postdoctoral Research–Fusion Scenario Development
We currently have exciting opportunities for outstanding candidates to undertake postdoctoral positions at the National Spherical Torus Experiment Upgrade (NSTX-U). Steady-state physics experiments on NSTX-U will provide insight into the role of aspect ratio in these scenarios, facilitating the development of a unified scenario physics basis and informing near-term design of a next-step fusion facility. A key goal of the NSTX-U program is to develop stationary, noninductive plasmas with very high toroidal beta and bootstrap fraction. Two postdocs, supervised by General Atomics staff, will assist in this goal. One position is in integrated interpretive and predictive modeling, a key tool in developing and understanding steady-state scenarios. Such modeling will be based off of pre
